Student Body President Job Description
The Student Body President is elected at large by the student body and serves as the chief executive officer for the Student Government Association. The Student Body President advises university administration on issues affecting student life and serves as Vice Chairperson of the Academic Senate.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be enrolled as a student at Illinois State University.
- Must maintain a 2.75 GPA and be in good disciplinary standing.
- Must have completed at least two semesters (excluding summer sessions) at Illinois State.
- Must not anticipate graduation prior to May of the academic year being served.
- May not have night class on Wednesday evenings during entire term in office.
Responsibilities
- Must attend all SGA Assembly and Academic Senate meetings from 6:00-9:30 P.M. each Wednesday night.
- Must complete a minimum of 20 office hours per week.
Compensation
- In exchange for successful completion of weekly office hours, the Student Body President receives a stipend of up to $6,120 based on an agreed upon contract. The total payment will be divided and disbursed equally via paychecks issued every two weeks.
