Catalyst Grants

What is a “Catalyst” Grant?

A catalyst is a person or thing that causes an important change to take place. Leadership and Service offers Catalyst Grants (up to $1,000) to help students gain access to the resources necessary to further their vision to create change in the Illinois State University and Bloomington/Normal community. The goal of the grant is to encourage students to be a catalyst for change in their campus community. Catalyst Grants (up to $1,000) are offered to help students gain access to the resources necessary to further their vision to create change in the Illinois State University and Bloomington/Normal community. Through such financial support and guidance students can implement programs and initiatives needed to bring their visions to reality.

Eligibility and Criteria

To be eligible for a Catalyst Grant, an applicant must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be a Illinois State University student with at least one year left on campus at the time the grant is awarded;
  • Be an individual student, or part of a small team. A Registered Student Organization or an established group is not eligible to apply, but an individual group member could apply for their own project; and
  • The idea must be a new initiative, not an ongoing project in search of additional support.

Grants are awarded one time for one project. However, the same individual may apply for a second grant to support a new project idea.
