Involvement at Illinois State

What is "involvement"?

Involvement means to participate in campus life outside of attending class.  Involvement can include attending university events, joining student groups, working on campus, taking part in residence hall activities, being a fan of Redbird athletics, and much more.

Students on Illinois State’s campus have created groups with interests in everything from eating cereal to playing badminton, from politics to dance, and from foreign language to community service.  With over 300 registered student organizations campus, you’re sure to find one that meets your interests, or you can start one of your own.

Why should I get involved?

Getting involved is one of the best ways to experience Illinois State. Whether you choose to be active in the University community by supporting an athletic team, joining a student organization, working with a faculty member, attending events, or participating in events in your residence hall, it is important to get involved with the University to get involved and stay connected. Students who get involved on campus gain new outlooks, expand their social circles, and even choose majors or careers based on their experience with a registered student organization (RSO).  Getting involved with an RSO provides hands-on experience that may prepare you for future internships, jobs, and volunteer work.  Additionally, membership in an RSO allows you to make friends with similar interests, refines your organizational skills and time management, gives you insight about people, and helps to develop responsibility and teamwork.
