Student Mentoring Program

Illinois State University works to create a small school environment where students receive the support and assistance they need. Diversity Advocacy, a unit of the Dean of Students Office, offers Mentoring, Academics, Scholarships & Achievement Initiative (MASAI).  Through MASAI, first-year students are paired with upper-class students who serve as mentors and role models. Mentors assist first-year students with academic work, help them get involved in the campus community and organizations, and provide information about campus resources. The mission of the MASAI mentoring program is to assist incoming first-year students with their transition into the University culture by helping them to manage the rigorous academic and social demands of the institution.
