As an officer, member or advisor to registered student organizations (RSO), you're sure to Find Your Way through the helpful resources and services provided by the Student Involvement Center, a unit of the Dean of Students Office. All of the resources available on this site were designed to assist registered student organizations and their leadership to be as successful as possible, or to assist individuals seeking to create a new student group.
Workshops are available to any member of the Illinois State community, and are designed to provide tools and information needed to successfully operate a student organization, or to jump in to campus involvement. Sessions are held in the Student Involvement Center on Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m. If you have a topic of interest that is not listed below, please contact the Student Involvement Center.
Marketing: February 12
This session will give your RSO resources tips on how to best publicize an event, spread your message, design great marketing materials, and more. Be sure you are fully equipped with every resource available to help you market your programs, and your organization. Find out from experts and fellow RSO executive board members how to best market your RSO.
Public Speaking: February 26
Want to shake off those pre-presentation jitters? Do you crave the poise and expertise of polished public speakers? Do you want to be the best presenter in your class? Come to this session, hosted by Honorary Student Involvement Association, to find out best practices of public speaking, tips for preparation, ways to combat anxiety, and great visual aids.
Member Retention: March 18
Check out this session to discover strategies to retain your RSO’s members throughout the semester, and into the next school year. By using techniques to recognize members’ strengths and be respectful of everyone’s time, your club or organization can keep its members and grow into the next semester.
Positive Thinking: March 25
Learn about the power of realistic optimism and understand how to maintain positive thinking even in the most adverse of situations. We will discuss strategies and tools to keep you motivated and ways to spread the positive thinking to the rest of your group.
Executive Board Recruitment and Transitions: April 8
Attend this session to create a plan for transitioning your exec board into the next school year. Learn how to recognize and develop the future leaders of your organization, and help them to shift into their new roles with ease.
Stress Management: April 22
With finals looming on the horizon, this time of year is a prime time for stress to affect students’ abilities. Come to this session, hosted by Honorary Student Involvement Association, to help you identify stressors in your schedule, and find ways to combat stress at the end of the semester.
