$500 Now Available for Registered Student Organizations

A total of up to $500 is available for Registered Student Organizations (RSO) for co-curricular activities in which students confront social issues or engage action in civic improvement and education/reflection on the issue. The award, offered through the Senior Professionals of Illinois State University, is to encourage students to explore social and civic issues, participate in learning activities addressing social or political problems, and to develop a sense of civic commitment through intentional curricular and co-curricular activities.

Complete the Senior Professionals Service Learning Award Application and submit by September 24, 2007 to:

A selection committee will review applications and assess awards based upon the extent Registered Student Organizations address:

  • Description of the project (what is the project, how many people will be  involved etc)
  • Goals of the project (what will be accomplished)
  • How the project will benefit the Bloomington-Normal community
  • Financial breakdown (dollar amounts of items listed in importance to the project) Advisor’s written signature and contact information on application form
  • Support material (optional)

Projects must be completed by April 30, 2008 to qualify. In addition, a representative must attend the Senior Professional Board Meeting on October 8, 2007 and make a brief presentation concerning the project.and must also present the project at the Senior Professional Annual Meeting in May 2008.
