Make a child’s wishes come true this holiday season by “adopting” a child through the Holiday Helper "adoption program". Participants "adopting" a child will purchase gift(s) based on the child's top three wants and needs valuing $40 and deliver the items to Leadership and Service. Adoptions takes place November4 - 20, 2009 .In 2008, Holiday Helper provided gifts and parties for 218 children.
Volunteers will assist with wrapping the gifts donated through Holiday Helper. Supplies for the wrapping will be provided. Wrapping takes place December 1-3, 2009 .
Holiday Helper parties are held to interact and play with children in the community and to distribute the gifts collected through Holiday Helper. Parties will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at four local community agencies in Bloomington/Normal: Boys and Girls Club, Catholic Charities, Western Avenue Community Center, and UNITY Community Center. One hundred volunteers are needed for the parties to help children with a variety of activities, such as games, sports, and arts and craft projects. In addition, volunteers are also needed to serve as party coordinators who plan the parties.
