Alternative Spring Break National Organization

Illinois State University Alternative Break is a Break Away Chapter School, a national movement promoting Active Citizenship among colleges across the country. Break Away: the Alternative Break Connection, Inc. is a national nonprofit organization that supports the development of quality alternative break programs throughout the country by providing training and information primarily to colleges, universities, and nonprofit organizations interested in creating lifelong active citizens through intensive service-learning programs.

During Alternative Break, participants examine root issues of social injustice and connect with both local and national communities through direct service in a substance-free environment. Illinois State University AB uses three models, two from Break Away, to guide our program.
